Major challenges

Saint-Roch is also a Priority Education Network school. The repetition rate is high.
Every year, in every grade, two students are a year older than their age group. Social deprivation is also rife, and the school has close links with EDES.

Environmental issues

The city of Avignon is located in the zone of influence of the Mediterranean climate, on which climate change is having a significant impact. The school has witnessed an increase in average annual temperatures, more frequent and more intense heatwaves, and a decrease in precipitation.
These changes have major implications for agricultural production and water management in the region. They could also increase the risk of forest fires, floods and prolonged droughts in the children’s immediate environment, which is why it seems essential to address current environmental issues through this project, which represents a great opportunity to raise pupils’ awareness of this issue.
